Zebra’s new stripes

• New stripes: Council contractors were busy at work this week, marking lines on
Foster’s new zebra crossing on Main Street.

SOUTH Gippsland Shire Council contractors were busy at work this week, marking lines on Foster’s new zebra crossing on Main Street.
The Mirrorcalled VicRoads after letter write Georgia Wilson raised questions over the crossing’s adherence to rules governing crossings. VicRoads referred the questions back to South Gippsland Shire Council, saying the crossing was SGSC’s project.

“Our line-marking contractor has to re-visit the site and will convert the brown pavement to black,” a Council spokesperson said.
“Georgia correctly points out that the white crossing lines are only 2.1 metres wide. Our line marking contractor shall rectify this and make them 2.5 metres.

“The signage as installed accords with the standards. Permissive parking signs are also in place.”
