Too many driving irresponsibly

IN RECENT days police at Foster have issued at least five penalty notices for drivers caught speeding in the local district. Other irresponsible drivers have also copped fines for a variety of reasons.

At 1am on Sunday a 20-year-old Cranbourne woman, a P-plate driver, was detected driving on the South Gippsland Highway at Toora with more than one peer passenger in her car. As a result she was fined $423 and three demerit points.

On Saturday a 19-year-old Leongatha youth was detected by Foster police in Black Swamp Road driving with a suspended licence. Approximately an hour later the same young man was detected driving again at Meeniyan. He will be summonsed to appear at Korumburra Magistrates Court. In a related incident, at 6.20pm on Saturday a 21-year-old Leongatha learner driver was detected driving a vehicle in Black Swamp Road without an experienced driver next to him. He was fined $704, and for displaying P-plates when not required to do so he was fined $141.
