Thumbs Up for the COVID vaccine!

• Foster and Toora Medical Centre Practice Principals, from left, Drs Phil Worboys, Owen Casson and Ruyu Yao, lined up to receive their first of two COVID-19 vaccinations from practice nurse Bec Chigwidden on Friday March 26, 2021.

THE Foster Medical Centre  are now asking for all those over 80yo to ring and make an appointment for their COVID vaccinations at the medical centre.

On the website health.gov.au there is a link to COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility Checker which will quickly let you know which category you are in and where the nearest immunisation provider is. Foster is listed there under the Respiratory Clinic and do not be deterred by the notice that we are not taking bookings. We are tackling immunising all those in stage 1b in an orderly way, as our supply of vaccines is limited and there is no great reason for haste when COVID is not in the State at present.

The ability to make an appointment online is still pending-it will happen and we will let you know when it is available.

We are pleased with the progress made in our first week of vaccinations and especially by the high uptake of the vaccine when offered to our elderly patients.

As mentioned last week, after their vaccination patients are given dates for their flu shot, their next COVID shot in 12 weeks time and a sheet informing them of ‘what to expect after vaccination’. Please note that all COVID immunisations are provided free of charge.

We will have more news on the Flu Clinics very soon.
