Current owners of The Mirror newspaper, Robert (Rab) and Jenny Best will cease publishing The Mirror on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
That means there will be five more editions before arrangements are finalised to end the production of the paper by the current staff.
Unfortunately a suitable buyer has not been able to be attracted, so the only other alternative is to close the door.
There are a lot of people who will need to be thanked, and this will be done later.
Local advertisers and contributors will be contacted and told of the arrangements.
After leaving school in 1974 and commencing work at The Mirror at the start of 1975, it’s time for Rab to ‘smell the roses’ and enjoy a few hobbies and his grandchildren.
All commercial printing will now have to be outsourced.
