The Christmas countdown is on!

The months and weeks have flown by and it’s now high time time to stock up on Christmas fare and to select some great gifts for family and friends. The Foster Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) has made it really easy to organise festive food and drink and to select some terrific gifts – with the added bonus of giving you opportunities to win some great prizes.

The calendar on this page lists the daily specials unique to participating traders on certain days in the lead-up to Christmas.

This week’s special offers begin today (Wednesday) with a free sausage sizzle on offer at Prom Meats between the hours of 10am and 4pm.

On Thursday December 17, call in to Sam’s Patch where you will receive 10 per cent off all clothes. FoodWorks will be holding a Giant Fruit & Veg Truckload Sale on Friday December 18.

Saturday December 19 is a great day to stock up on Yellow Colours Sparkling at the low price of just three for $20.

There will be a whole lot of ‘ho, ho, ho’ at Mrs Devo’s on Sunday when Santa drops in between 1pm and 3pm with a free gift for the children.

If you have ‘Monday-itis’ it will be short-lived with a 15 minute session in the massage chair at Natural Living. The massage will be free if you make a purchase of over $40 on Monday December 21. There are many products to choose from – including a great range of toys!

On Tuesday December 22, every customer will receive a free entry into the Tattslotto Christmas Hamper at Pulham’s Furniture & Carpet.

If you haven’t already started getting your entry ticket stamped to put yourself in the running for the weekly draws of a $20 gift voucher, and the Giant Hamper Raffle, you can start right now! On any day right up until December 23, simply make a minimum purchase of at least $20 at a participating trader and you will receive an entry ticket with the first of its 10 boxes stamped. To find a participating trader, just look for the colourful circus-themed flyer in the window or at the counter, or for staff members wearing the distinctive FCCI badge.

With each purchase of at least $20 one more box will be stamped. When all 10 are completed, drop your ticket off (with your details) at a participating trader and your name will be entered into the weekly draw. You don’t have to be in town if you win as you will be contacted by phone, as was this week’s winner, Heather Spooner of Toora.

With each purchase of over $20 at a participating trader on their calendar day you will receive two stamps instead of one; – but only on that trader’s individual day. All completed tickets (including those entered in the weekly draws) will be entered into the Giant Hamper Raffle which will be drawn at the Street Party on Wednesday December 23 at 8pm. As with the weekly draw, you do not have to be present at the draw to win this raffle as you will be contacted by phone.

Every day right up until Christmas Eve, the following traders are offering specials: Shop 48 on Main – deluxe wrapping with every purchase and an entry in the draw to win one of four $25 gift vouchers; Southern Sass Hair Studio – a special hair treatment valued at $8 added to your service; 20 per cent off travel insurance at Atoll Travel; with every purchase, go into the draw to win two mountain bikes at Foster Kayak & Outdoor; and IGA is offering five per cent off purchases for all IGA card holders (excludes purchases of liquor and tobacco and not in conjunction with other offers) – providing a terrific opportunity to stock up for the holidays!

Andy Mitch will get your toes tapping with rhythm and blues in Main Street on Saturday December 19 between 11am and 12 noon – and be sure to see the U3A Prom Coast Circle Dancers in Pearl Park that day between 11.30am and 12.30pm.

A new activity this year is a competition between the Foster Chamber of Commerce businesses to see who can put on the best Christmas display. All votes will go into a draw where the winning voter will receive a gift basket worth $100. The winning trader will win free advertising on the Foster Community website for one year (www.foster.vic.au). So, have a good look along the street during the day – and at night when the shopping strip will be lit up. There is to be only one vote per person – so make your vote count by listing your details on the entry form on this page, circling or ticking your winner and drop the entry into the red box outside Foster Post Office (no stamp required).

The children can meet Santa on Main Street on Saturday 19 between 10.30am and noon, during the Street Party on Wednesday December 23 (between 6pm and 8pm) and on Thursday December 24 between 10.30am and noon.

Be sure to come along to the Street Party Wednesday December 23 for plenty of music, dancing, fun and food – and circus activities. Every purchase made in participating stores between 7am and 7pm that day will get a free entry in the draw for one of 10 $50 vouchers. But you must be present at the draw at 8pm with ticket in hand to win.
