Start saving now for 50 Cent Challenge!

START collecting your fifty cent pieces now for the 50 Cent Challenge which will take place on Sunday April 26 as one of the many events planned during the Prom Coast Seachange Festival 2015.

Once again Prue Fleming will be running the challenge and all money collected will go to Prom Country Aged Care.

The Seachange Festival has taken place in and around Foster every two years since 2007, and the Challenge is always an important part. Weather permitting, the coins will be laid out end-to-end along Foster’s main street on Sunday April 26.

During the last 50 Cent Challenge, eight round 50 cent pieces were donated to the Challenge. Over 36 million of these coins were issued in 1966 just after the change to decimal currency and were kept by many people to mark the change. Because of the large number minted, the coins are not going to make anyone a fortune, but Prue had the foresight to take them to the Stamp and Coin Fair in Foster and received $8 for each – making a tidy $76 profit for PCAC.

In all, the efforts of Prue and all the wonderful people who donated 50 cent piece during the last Challenge raised around $2000. The line eventually stretched 125 metres along Main Street, Foster.
