Preparation is the key to success at the Foster Show

WITH only 4 weeks to go, it is time to start preparing yourself for the Foster Show. There are old favourites and some new exciting competitions too. Many things can be entered on show day, but some entries require a little preparation and earlier drop-off. The esteemed Exhibit Shed is back, with a few changes this year. Do you bake the best ANZAC biscuits? Have you simmered a perfect plum jam? Maybe you’ve been crocheting a new winter scarf? Or perhaps you have a creative idea for a vegetable person! The exhibit shed has the most diverse competitions all listed in our show schedule.

All exhibits submitted this year will now be received and judged the Friday before show day (Friday 24th February 2023). Entry drop-off will be between 10 am and 4 pm with judging commencing from 4pm. No late entries or entries on show day will be accepted. This will allow exhibits to be displayed and viewed by the public for all on show day.

Encompassing the roots of our Foster Show, is an exciting new creative art section, with the theme “South Gippsland and its Agriculture”. Creative art can be in the form of painting, drawing, sculptures/ceramics, and any other medium. This section is open to everyone and for people of all abilities, allowing your true creativity to shine! If you are feeling extra creative, the Foster Show is looking for a new logo, and for someone local to design it. The winning logo will capture the theme of agriculture in South Gippsland and will be used in future correspondence and merchandise produced by the show society. Entry to this competition is free.

The best cattle challenge since Melbourne Royal, Dairy Week, the EKKA… the Foster Show On-Farm Challenge is back again in 2023. The judges will visit your property to look at pens of cattle (beef) and individual animals (dairy). Animals are judged on their commercial merit for beef and milk production. There is no need for halter handling, washing, or clipping! Entries will close Sunday 5 February, enter via www.fostershow.com or at the Gippsland Vet Group Livestock & Equine Centre.

Prepare yourself for the best show yet, and get your entries ready for the exhibit shed, creative art section, logo design, on-farm challenge, and more, with winners announced Saturday 25th February at the Foster Show.
