A group of more than 58 Sandy Point residents attended a “People’s Meeting“ held at the Sandy Point Hall on 19 June, 2011. Councillor Mohya Davies was in attendance to answer questions and to observe the mood of the people. The meeting was organised and chaired by Neil Shaw.
Resolution
“That the People of Sandy Point who attended a meeting on 19 June, 2011 ask Council to NOT reject the funding from the Fire Services Commissioner, but instead seeks an extension of time to:
- Engage with the community and key expert agencies to resolve a viable Place of Last Resort or a fire Refuge for Sandy Point
- For CFA to offer details of what would constitute an acceptable fire refuge and to actively assist in the process of identifying a site(s).
- To develop a model or template that could be used for other similar towns.”
