More funds, more fun for Foster Playgroup

FOSTER Playgroup held a very successful fundraiser at its most recent gathering in Foster Scout Hall last Wednesday.

Sales from three popular stalls contributed to the fundraiser.

Janine Garvey offered her Ninky Bear range of baby products. Jess Pulham had Tupperware for sale – products could be ordered and some were available for purchase on the day, the highlight being an interactive ‘kids in the kitchen’ cooking display, which the children loved! Ellen came along from Kids Gear in Morwell with the other stall – affordable children’s clothing sized from 000 to 14.

Parents and children enjoyed a morning tea of cakes generously donated by Ando’s Bakery, along with a raffle with Avon products as prizes donated by Janet Lind of Cleasby’s.

“We have had a very busy morning. I don’t know how much we have raised yet, but the money will go towards buying new toys and books and special occasion activities for playgroup,” said Janine Garvey, who runs the playgroup with Nikki Bland.

Playgroup is held at the scout hall in Pioneer Street, Foster, every Wednesday from 9.30am to 11.30am during the school term. Mothers and fathers and their young pre-school children from babies to 4-year-olds are welcome to attend. The charge is only $2 per family, with each family asked to bring their own morning tea snack and make use of the tea and coffee facilities in the kitchen for hot drinks.

Foster Playgroup has been running for many years and has a wide selection of toys and activities available for inside or outside play. Each fortnight there is a visit from the Bushlink van, which allows parents to borrow toys for their children for a small fee.

“You can be sure of a warm welcome at playgroup,” said Janine. “It’s a great opportunity for parents to meet other parents and for kids to socialise, burn off some energy and, hopefully, learn to share!”
