• The new automatic telephone exchange at Foster was about to commence operation.

• The Shire of South Gippsland refused a 430 residential lot subdivision in Foleys Road Yanakie on the grounds that the land would be better retained for agricultural use as the number of lots in seaside subdivisions in Victoria exceeds the need for years to come.

• For the first time since its completion 18 months ago, the seven million gallon reservoir above Toora is full.

• The Shire has invited Public Works Department officers to discuss ways of arresting dune erosion at Waratah Bay as the main dune has receded by up to three feet.
