Farmers’ market moved inside

Visitors to last Saturday morning’s market, traditionally held in the grounds of the Foster War Memorial Arts Centre, were relieved to find the majority of the market inside the hall.

After heavy rain and wind during the night a pre-dawn decision was made to relocate the majority of stalls to the warmer and drier location. The stallholders adapted to the relocation with pleasure, and a satisfying number of regulars and visitors steadily arrived throughout the morning.

A highlight of the morning was the enthusiastic response to the point of lay hens presented by Tania of free range ‘Hens of Halora’. An unanticipated number of advance orders for hens have been placed for the next market.

Market stalwart Rod Faudell of Faudel Goat Cheese said the next market will be a special one.

“A special winter celebration market is to be held on Saturday July 17,” he said. “There will be three lucky customer draws throughout the morning. The winners will receive a generous set of vouchers from participating stallholders. To enter, just make any purchase from stallholders for a free raffle ticket. The more stalls you buy from the more chances to win. Do come and enjoy the lovely atmosphere and meet the local producers and growers.”
