Coalition victory makes Long Jetty not such a long shot

VICTORY for the Coalition over the long-incumbent Labor Government in the State Election last Saturday bodes well for Port Welshpool’s historic Long Jetty.

In the lead-up to the election, Peter Ryan, the Member for Gippsland South, Leader of the Nationals and now Minister for Rural and Regional Development and Deputy Premier to Premier Ted Baillieu, promised that if a Coalition Government were elected, the Nationals would spend $3 million to upgrade and re-open the Long Jetty.

He also promised to contribute up to $2 million to enable the completion of Stage 1 of Port Anthony at Barry Point.

To see what comes out of this exciting change of guard for the people of Victoria, and specifically the population of Gippsland South, who returned the sitting member with a massive majority, watch this space!
