Australia Day in Corner Inlet

CALLING all citizens of Corner Inlet! Australia Day is coming and we are celebrating in a bigger and better way
this year. On Australia Day, Saturday, January 26 it is all happening near the Museum in Main Street Foster. As
the Show is not taking place in 2019, Australia day will feature some of the best loved events to keep us in
practice! The usual BBQ, stalls and raffles, from around 11.30 will be joined by:

  • DOG PARADE Starting at 12 noon (Waggiest tail, best trick and Aussie fancy dress)
  • LEGO BUILDING Bring one along, or use our lego/duplo… judged at 12.45pm
    – Construct a ‘sideshow’ ride or amusement
  • LAMINGTON COMPETITION Judged at 1.00 pm,
    • Bring a plate of four lamingtons. Prizes for primary, secondary and adult sections
  • BIGGEST PUMPKIN “Weigh in” at 12.30 pm
  • STRANGEST LOOKING VEGETABLE Voted by popular choice (counted at 12.30pm)
  • ANY CRAFT ARTICLE ON AUSTRALIAN THEME – Adult and Children sections
  • DECORATED GUMBOOT Adult and Children sections – Voted by popular choice counted at 12.30pm
  • OFFICIAL CEREMONY commencing 1.00pm with lamington judging followed by announcement of winners and prize presentations in above competitions. Then presentations to Corner Inlet Citizen and Event of the Year
  • FINISH: 1.30pm

If your community group would like to come along and hold a stall, raffle or display, please just turn up on the
day and enjoy the festivities! We are still looking for helpers with the “Show” events, so if you would like to be
involved for an hour or two, feel most welcome, even if you have not done anything like this before!
