2020 Foster Show book out this week

THE schedule for the 112th Annual Foster and District Agricultural Show, to be held at the Foster Showgrounds on Saturday February 22, 2020, will be available to prospective entrants this week.

Known colloquially as the “show book”, the 48-page publication plus entry forms features an eye-catching green cover with a selection of images highlighting some of the Foster Show’s most popular events.

They include beef and dairy cattle, sheep and shearing, home produce and flowers, handcrafts, poultry, the spectacular dog high jump, horses and live music.

On the back cover is a picture of some of the high speed action spectators may expect to see in the long-awaited return of competition wood-chopping, presented by the South and Central Gippsland Axemen’s Association.

The 2020 Foster Show Woodchop is sponsored by the Bendigo Bank’s Toora and District Community Bank branch and the Foster branch.

Foster and District Agricultural Society secretary Denia Gilheany said, “it’s full steam ahead for the 2020 Foster Show and we’re excited to be releasing the schedule this week.

“The committee has been working hard to put the schedule together, and we hope that everyone finds a section or a class to enter,” she said.

“There are lots of new attractions at the 2020 show, including working dog trials, Felix the Magician and a series of on-farm challenges, including one for commercial dairy cows and the silage quality competition.

“Individuals and farming families as well as community groups and clubs are more than welcome to enter our hay bale art competition,” Denia said.

“We’ve even added a women’s section to the sheaf-tossing competition, which is sure to add a lot of fun and interest to a traditional show event!”

The Society thanked the many advertisers and long-term sponsors of the 2020 Foster Show and expressed gratitude to the new sponsors backing the event, including Storr’s Transport of Toora, Cervus Equipment Leongatha, Hico Australia of Korumburra, Integrated Packaging of Melbourne, VLE Leongatha, Homebush Pastoral, and the Gippsland Veterinary Group.

Exhibitors wanting to take part in the 2020 Foster Show can even enter online this year, at www.fostershow.com
