Have your say on Housing and Settlement Strategy

SOUTH Gippsland Shire Council planning staff will be on hand at a series of public information sessions on the council’s draft Housing and Settlement Strategy (HSS).

The sessions will be held this Sunday and Monday, June 16-17, at the times listed below.

If you have an interest in how your town looks and is developing, you may want to take a look at the strategy, which will guide future land use in South Gippsland communities.

“We have already completed strategic work for our larger towns and this strategy provides Urban Design Frameworks for seventeen of our small to medium size settlements,” explained Paul Stampton, Manager of Strategic Planning and Development. “Other components such as reviewing our Rural Living Zone land and managing old Crown townships with Restructure Overlays also form part of this strategic framework.”

Council agreed at the May 22 meeting to place the draft HSS on public exhibition from May 27 to June 28. It is now providing plenty of opportunities to view the strategy, ask questions and provide feedback so that the final product is an integrated vision of community and Council.

The public is invited to attend any, or all, of five public information sessions where planning staff will be available to explain the strategy, which will be on hand to view.
