Yanakie Camp Draft donates $8,500 to community

• Members of the Yanakie Camp Draft with the grateful recipients of $8500 worth of cheques – Prom Coast Centre for Children, the Foster Historical Society, Prom Country Aged Care, the Youth Assist Clinic and Fish Creek Primary School. Students from Foster Primary School were also present at the Prom Coast Centre for Children.

PRESIDENT of the Yanakie Camp Draft, Marni Hamilton, presented cheques to Prom Coast Centre for Children, the Foster Historical Society, Prom Country Aged Care, the Youth Assist Clinic and Fish Creek Primary School on Thursday February 8.

Marni said the Camp Draft chose worthy causes and that all the money raised stays in the community.

The significant amounts of money given to each organisation will be used for a variety of programs including gardens for the children, Dutch cargo bikes for residents of PCAC, ongoing projects for the Historical Society including putting a flag on the graves of every returned soldier who survived and is buried in the Foster, Toora or Welshpool cemeteries and to offer more and more support to the 15+ kids who access the Youth Assist Clinic every week.

Camp Draft’s, Bec Vuillerman wants to remind everyone that the next Draft dates are February 17 and 18.

Start time is 6:30am and the whole weekend is catered for by the Wonthaggi Pony Club.
