Due to significant flooding within Wilsons Promontory National Park, the park is temporarily closed until further notice. The priority for Park Victoria staff has been to ensure the safe evacuation of people within the Park. After this, the priority will be to assess damage to roads, paths and Park infrastructure. Parks Victoria and VicRoads staff will commence a full assessment in the coming days. A further update will be issued, by Parks, early next week.
Parks Victoria Regional Manager Chris Rose and Chief Ranger – Wilsons Promontory, Craig Stubbings are inviting local tourism operators and Councillors to a public tourism forum to be briefed on the significant flood event at Wilsons Prom and the works required to reopen the park as soon as possible.
