POLICE are investigating three burglaries which took place in Foster last weekend.
At some stage over the weekend Foster Kindergarten in Pioneer Street was broken into and petty cash stolen. The burglars are believed to have forced a lock on a door.
At about 4am on Sunday morning the alarm at Foster Community House on the corner of Station Road and Court Street was triggered. The local resident who was summoned found that a window was open and the former courthouse had been burgled, though nothing appeared to have been stolen.
Foster Dentistry in Main Street was also burgled during the weekend and approximately $270 in petty cash stolen.
Car Fire at Toora
POLICE have attributed bad luck, rather than suspicious circumstances, to a car fire at Toora in the early hours of last Saturday morning.
The owner had parked his Alfa Romeo hatch beside his house on the South Gippsland Highway on Friday night, but woke at about 4am to see a glow – his car was on fire. He tried unsuccessfully to extinguish the flames and then called the CFA. By the time Toora CFA arrived, the car was burning vigorously and could not be saved. The fire destroyed it completely. The vehicle’s insurance value is estimated at $23,000.
