THE current exhibition at Stockyard Gallery showcases artworks, hand-crafted homewares and apparel created by 16 of the gallery’s very talented volunteers.
All of the gallery’s volunteers give generously of their time to ensure that the gallery and gift shop are open daily (closed only on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Good Friday).
The Volunteers Exhibition coincides with National Volunteer Week (May 8 to 14) which acknowledges the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers.
Presented in this exhibition is a dazzling array of high quality works, including framed paintings featuring animal studies, landscapes, seascapes, and the beauty of Wilsons Promontory.
Boab seeds and gourds decorated with the technique of pyrography also feature. Timber plays a large role in this exhibition, with beautifully crafted toys and very cleverly made wall mounted timber animal sculptures.
In addition to quilts throws, the textiles on exhibit include beautiful apparel such as scarves, hats, jumpers and gorgeous little booties.
The Volunteers Exhibition continues until Monday May 22 and is a wonderful opportunity to purchase unique pieces for gift-giving or for yourself.
In celebration of the Volunteers Exhibition, the gallery is hosting a special afternoon tea for the volunteers and committee members this Thursday (May 11) from 2pm to 3pm.
Stockyard Gallery is located near the roundabout, corner of Main and McDonald streets, Foster and is open seven days per week from 10am to 4pm. For further information, the gallery can be contacted on 5682 1125
