Welcome to mainland Australia’s southern-most wine making area … and possibly the most picturesque.

In the cool maritime climate, the boutique wineries consistently produce some of the best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay around.

Prom Country is home to a number of award winningwineries producing red, white and sparkling wines, and most are open for wine tasting and sales.  The industry has flourished in recent years because of the ideal climate conditions.  .

Don’t forget to complement the wine with some local produce found at one of our many markets or food stores. During your visit why not ‘come coasting’ along the Southern Gippsland Wine Trail and sample them for yourself!

Local wineries include:

djinta djinta Winery

This 8.5 acre boutique winery takes its name from the indigenous ‘willy wagtails’ that reside on the estate.  Award winning wines include 2007 Semillon Chardonnay and 2006 Ruby Creek Reserve.

Lyre Bird Hill Winery

Situated in lush dairy country just minutes from Koonwarra, this winery has a reputation for producing quality (often award-winning) vintages.  Wines grown on the property include Reisling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Traminer, Pinot Noir, Cabernet, Shiraz and Sparking wines.  It also has a 4-star guesthouse and self-contained family cottage available.

Waratah Hills Vineyard

Located just out of Fish Creek, all estate wines are hand-picked, producing exceptional Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sparking and Rose wines.  The vineyard faces into a beautiful domed valley.

Basia Mille Vineyard, Olive Grove and Boutique Accommodation

Basia Mille means ‘one thousand passionate kisses’ and the vineyard does indeed have a romantic feel, with views to Wilsons Prom from the tasting room.  The property includes luxury apartment accommodation, a 9 hole golf course and an olive grove.

Windy Ridge Vineyard and Winery

Sample a full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon or smooth Pinot Noir, whilst taking in the stunning views of Wilsons Prom and Corner Inlet.  Windy Ridge is located just out of Foster.  Cool climate reds are a speciality.
