SOUTH Gippsland Shire Council is planning to open a section of government road reserve off the Foster Mount Best Road in Mount Best.
The move is designed to allow reasonable access to three properties.
The access from Foster Mount Best Road travels in a westerly direction, with an existing road extended a further 250 metres to allow access to one of the affected properties.
As the section of road holds an Agricultural License, Council will need to work with Department of Environment Land Water and Planning to gain permission to have the license revoked, if the proposal is to go forward.
The maintenance for the section of the road would be accommodated in Council’s Operations budget for road construction and maintenance if required.
South Gippsland Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Lorraine Brunt is encouraging the community to take part in the submission process.
“Council appreciates community participation during this process, it is important to hear from those affected,” she said.
“We understand the importance of the potential road opening, allowing for ease of access to the affected properties.”
