AFTER a three year COVID induced break, FAMDA will be hosting its twentieth One Act Play Festival at the Foster War Memorial Arts Centre on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August 2022.

A one act play festival gives theatre companies a chance to display their prowess by presenting relatively short plays in a friendly theatrical competition with trophies  and cash prizes for the actors.

It also provides an opportunity for locals to see and enjoy a smorgasbord of wonderful theatrical talent close to home and at very little cost.

Sponsorship by the Foster and Toora Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank has enabled FAMDA to entice schools and theatre groups to enter fourteen plays in this year’s South Gippsland One Act Play Festival.

The festival gets underway at 10:00 on Saturday morning with the Young Players Festival and five entries drawn from groups coming from Phillip Island to Bairnsdale and places in between.

Theatre companies from Anglesea and various parts of Melbourne and Gippsland will be bringing plays to Foster for the open section of the festival which begins at 7pm on Saturday night and includes a FAMDA entry in its line-up.

On Sunday plays run from 11:00 in the morning with audience members welcome to join the session during the breaks between the five plays.
