More than 1000 sign petition

MORE than 1000 people have signed the petition calling on the Victorian Government to keep South Gippsland Water’s main offices in Foster, and to preserve 50 local jobs.

The signatures have been gathered from throughout the Corner Inlet district and have been sent on to Gippsland South MLA Danny O’Brien for tabling in State Parliament this week at the final sitting before the winter recess.

Petition forms are still available in local shops, businesses and post offices for concerned district residents and visitors alike to sign. This second round of petition forms will be collated and tabled at the next sitting of Parliament in August 2019.

Foster Chamber of Commerce president Phil Rerden thanked all of the people who have already signed the petition, and he urged those who have not done so yet to sign as well.

“We’re also asking people to write an email or a letter to Victorian Water Minister Lisa Neville to let her know how important South Gippsland Water is to the local community and the local economy,” he said.

“Please address emails to [email protected] and letters to The Honourable Lisa Neville, Victoria Minister for Water, Level 17/8 Nicholson Street East Melbourne VIC 3002.”
