ROB Pennicott’s business, Pennicott Wilderness Journeys, has won multiple Australian Tourism Awards and has a strong history of giving back to the parks and communities they operate in.
“We will be up and running by October 1, 2018,” he said. “Boats are being custom made and we will be doing sea trials with one of the boats at the Prom this coming January.”
Steve Hibbard, the Chair of Destination Gippsland said, “A tour like this, operated by the highly reputable Pennicott Wilderness Journeys, will provide many long term economic, environmental and social benefits to the State”.
Destination Gippsland is pleased to join the Victorian Government in making the announcement because it will encourage a greater understanding of National Parks and their importance to the community.
Destination Gippsland is confident that the tours will be a positive force for the Park, the South Gippsland visitor economy and for Victoria’s reputation for world-class ecotourism experiences.
These tours will enhance the visitor experience by offering a unique opportunity for all visitors to witness the spectacular marine environment of Wilsons Promontory National Park.
“This is also a positive sign that Gippsland and all of Regional Victoria are open for business and it will encourage additional high quality investments in our thriving visitor economy. There are many tourism opportunities across the state that we hope will be advanced on the back of this decision”, said Mr. Hibbard.
