Wilsons Promontory National Park closed until 17 June 2021

Wilsons Promontory National Park has been subject to sever weather which has resulted in the need to close the park for public safety.

A severe weather event over Gippsland on the 9th and 10th of June 2021 has impacted Wilsons Promontory National Park including significant tree hazards along the Main Promontory Road and Tidal River itself.  Assessments have not been undertaken further south on Walking Tracks, therefore due to significant tree hazard and associated clean-up / mark safe works the park will be closed until Thursday 17th June 2021.

In addition there is likely to be significant damage to walking tracks and tree risk due to high winds associated with the storm event and likely to further damage to the tracks that were affected by the March Flood Event.

Please remember to check Parks Victoria’s website before travel for the most up-to-date change of conditions.

This is also a reminder that Licenced Tour Operators living in Melbourne may not travel to regional Victoria.

There may be other directions that apply to your business. We encourage you to familiarise yourself with the full details at: https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au

Conditions in parks can change quickly. Please always check Parks Victoria’s website www.parks.vic.gov.au and the change of conditions and closures page before visiting parks.
