Local Producer Wins Gold

Gippsland producer Prom Coast Ice Cream and Sorbet are honoured to have their products awarded two gold and four silver medals at this year’s Australian Food Awards.

Their Passionfruit Coco Cream (dairy-free ice cream) and Blood Orange Sorbet both won gold.

The Vanilla, Coffee and Creme Brulee Ice Creams and Mango Sorbet gained silver.

This is only the second year Prom Coast have entered in industry awards and although their products have gained a loyal following with customers, a competition such as this is a great opportunity to compare their products against others in the marketplace and receive valuable feedback from the judges who are experts in their field.

“We were surprised at how well we did this year especially as the competition was really tough with a record number of entries across the ice cream section, and our products being very different compared to others; particularly our ice cream as we don’t use egg or pastes” Says Miss Skelton.

“We were particularly happy to have our Passionfruit Coco Cream recognised. This customer favourite, was our first dairy free ice cream flavour and we have always thought it was a unique and delicious product.”

The Australian Food Awards (AFA) is Australia’s leading national food awards program, conducted by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV). The AFA presents producers, large and small, with the chance to benchmark their products, establish their credentials in the Australian premium food industry and provides differentiation in the market for award winners.
