Foster’s Australia Day celebrations

LOCAL history will play a large part in this year’s Australia Day celebrations on Thursday in Foster. A display of books depicting and detailing the history of towns around the Corner Inlet area will be featured in the Museum, with several titles on sale. Fish Creek RSL will be be guarding their own collection, and any older books people would like to have on display as we celebrate the National Year of Reading 2012.
Children won’t miss out as there will be storytelling sessions from 12-1.30 each half hour, the chance to make a book bag and a ‘hot dog’ book, activities which are sure to be enjoyed by the young and the young at heart. Maybe a chance for some book busking, amid the fantastic music to be provided by our local musos. And don’t forget the BBQ cooked up by the Toora Lions which you can finish up with a great cuppa and cake from the Welshpool Red Cross.
Fish Creek RSL will raise the flag at 1.45 to commence the official ceremony, which will include presentations to the Corner Inlet Community Event for the year, Corner Inlet Citizen of the Year 2012 and Community Service awards. So, for a great family day, and a chance to celebrate our national day, join us at Corner Inlet Australia Day celebrations from noon around the Museum precinct Thursday 26th January.
