THE community members of Foster and district have a unique opportunity to have their say on their health and wellbeing.
A consultation forum is being held at the Foster Community Health Centre on the afternoon of Tuesday November 13.
“This forum provides the opportunity for all members of the community to tell us what is working and what can be done to improve their health and wellbeing,” said Mrs Vicki Bradley, Social Planning Officer at South Gippsland Shire Council.
The South Gippsland Shire Council is developing the Municipal Public health and Wellbeing Plan for the coming years (2013-2017). This consultation will help to inform the development of the plan.
“The community members know what their needs are better than anyone else,” said Mrs Bradley.
“We rely on them to come forward and have their say so our plan reflects the needs of the communities we serve,” she added.
“We are very pleased that we have been invited to host this forum,” said Sam Park, Community Health Centre manager.
“Everyone is encouraged to come along as this is a fantastic opportunity for people in our community to respond to Council’s planning process,” she said.
“Council can only be certain of what we want if we tell them, so this is the perfect chance to have input into what can be done to improve health and wellbeing,” said Shianne Murray, South Gippsland Hospital Health Promotions Officer.
All community members are welcome but if they are unable to attend, a survey can be complete online at www.southgippsland.vic.gov.au or a hardcopy can be obtained from Council reception, local libraries and information centres including those at Foster and Leongatha.
The consultation forum will take place in the Community Health Centre Function Room at 87 Station Road, Foster. A light lunch will be provided at 12.45pm and the forum will follow from 1.30pm to 3pm.
