A TASTE of spring weather changes our focus quickly, whether it’s what we eat, or are thinking about our surroundings and the garden.
There are lots of options to feed your spring shopping desires at this Saturday’s Prom Country Farmers Market, from cheese to flowers to seedlings.
Our feature stall holder this month is Charles from Granny Schmidt’s Apple Strudel.
Charles has been making strudel since 1978. His original recipe was more in line with traditional European recipes, where pastry is the focus and the filling is a lesser component.
Charles’ recipe has evolved and now his strudel contains 70 per cent apple, sourced from orchards in Warragul.
Charles offers strudel by the slice or as a whole log. The strudels freeze well for later use. Why not drop in to the Farmers Market, browse amongst the stalls and try some of Charles’ strudel for yourself?
The Prom Country Farmers Market is held on the third Saturday of each month from 8-12noon in the grounds of the Foster War Memorial Arts Centre in the Main Street.
