The Foster Historical Society is having an Exhibition in the Foster Museum opening on 5th March 2016 for eleven months. The Exhibition is titled “Road to the Prom”. Cheryl Glowrey (former Principal of South Gippsland Secondary College/Foster High School) has interviewed some Yanakie settlers on what it was like living at Yanakie through the late 1950s and 1960s.
A Committee of past and present Yanakie people has been formed to support the Foster Historical Society and to celebrate the opening of the Yanakie Hall fifty years ago. Part of the plan is to collect the original farm maps and early settler photos for a permanent display in the Yanakie Hall. Many photos of settlers are already in the Historical Society’s archives. We are hopeful that we can display a copy of a photo of each farm’s original settlers.
