Over the past few weeks Destination Gippsland, South Gippsland Shire Council and Prom Country Regional Tourism have coordinated independent ‘mystery audits’ of local towns from a tourist’s perspective. Foster’s audit was conducted on 5 March.
The results are outstanding, and confirm everything we always knew about this wonderful town.
We scored 78 points out of a possible 84, 95%. Better yet, we received 100% in five of the eight sections!
Highlight comments include:
“On entry to Foster, our first impression was a town which took pride in itself. We were impressed with the general cleanliness of the town. The well tended nature strips were outstanding.”
“Overall, the town was extremely well presented. Streets were clean and free of debris. The shop fronts were well presented and in good repair.”
“We walked into various businesses in the town. We bought newspapers, grocery items and had coffee and a toasted sandwich. All staff we encountered were helpful, polite, smiled and in most cases, we were asked if we were staying in the area. Staff wished us a good day. People smiled and said hello as we walked around the town.”
“We loved the feel of the town. People we met and spoke to were very friendly and seemed proud of their town. Even though this was not a large town, it had everything you need and more.”
“This was our first visit and we have returned since. We had a light lunch at Rhythm cafe and walked along the river. We will return again as this is a good stop off point when travelling to Wilsons Promontory or to East Gippsland.”
These comments showcase the excellent level of customer service, the friendliness and also the commitment of the people of Foster to ensure that there town looks and feels welcoming to the many visitors that come to visit.
Isn’t it great to have this officially recognised and by an independent person?
Congratulations to the Chamber of Commerce and everyone who lives and works in Foster … it just goes to prove that we are living in a truly special place.
