COUNCIL’S Senior Project Delivery Officer Jesse Joyce told The Mirror that the culvert works are taking a little longer than expected.
The contract was awarded in December to Ace Earthmoving, but there were delays in manufacturing the crown (culvert) units due to COVID-19 restrictions and existing back orders. This meant that they weren’t delivered until early April, hence the late start on the project.
Council also had to extend the road closure until May 28 as there have been delays onsite due to navigating existing underground services – the weather in the last few weeks hasn’t helped as the rain has increased the flow of Stockyard Creek making it increasingly hard to mitigate the water entering the area of works. The entirety of the project was expected to take three months once commenced, and Council is still expecting the majority of the project to be completed before the end of the financial year, weather permitting.
