TARWIN Valley Primary School captains Jennifer Moss and Lucas VanderZalm will set the scene for Meeniyan’s Australia Day celebrations by raising the Australian flag in Whitelaw Street at 9am.
Following the raising of the flag, there will be an address by Australia Day Ambassador William Lye in the Meeniyan Town Hall.
Mr Lye is noted on Foley’s List (Australia’s leading barristers’ group) as having a Master of Laws (specialising in Intellectual Property) and a Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MEI) from the Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Marketing where he is a sessional lecturer.
In addition to being a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and a past president of the Chinese Professional and Business Association of Victoria, Mr Lye is chief examiner and sessional lecturer at Monash University Law Faculty.
Mr Lye’s specific advisory and interest areas includes board representation, private equity and venture capital issues, public listed company issues, ASEAN networks, computer and internet related areas, martial arts and the law, retirement village and aged care, wine and vineyards, and fisheries.
Following Mr Lye’s speech, Meeniyan and District Australia Day nominees for Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year and Youth Award will be recognised.
Everyone is invited to come along to the celebrations and to enjoy a free Community Brunch with Meeniyan’s famous muffins, a barbecue courtesy of the Meeniyan / Stony Creek CFA and cuppas provided by the ladies of the Meeniyan CWA. Live music will be provided by Acoustic Kitchen.
This event is to be presented by the Meeniyan Progress Association, the Meeniyan RSL, Meeniyan / Stony Creek CFA and Meeniyan CWA.
