LOCALS all know where Toora is, but with much of the town tucked away out of sight from the South Gippsland Highway, its good news that VicRoads has agreed to install new destination advisory signs on the highway acknowledging Toora’s existence for the convenience of all travellers.
A VicRoads spokesperson advised that the authority “is endeavouring to install the signs within the next coupe of months.”
He noted that the actual timing depends on when the completed signs have been manufactured and when the signs contractor is then next working in the vicinity.
Toora Progress Association’s Acting Secretary Roger Lette is pleased at the advance and that the group’s lobbying was effective.
It is not all that long ago that Council and tourism industry lobbying resulted in the signs on the Monash Freeway and South Gippsland Highway were changed to indicate the necessary choices for travellers wishing to visit Wilsons Promontory.
All good for helping tourists find South Gippsland’s gems!
