South Gippsland Secondary College state champions in Tournament of Minds

A TEAM of students from South Gippsland Secondary College in Foster will be winging their way to Perth next month to represent Victoria in the national finals of Tournament of Minds after taking out the state title in the problem-solving competition last Sunday.

Having won the Gippsland Regional Challenge on August 25, the team of Leuca MacLean, Tyler Bindloss, Louis Wheeler, Emma Fletcher, Harley McDonald-Eckersall and Miranda Swart, represented Gippsland in the Language and Literature section of the state competition at La Trobe University, Bundoora. They performed superbly to defeat five other regional and metropolitan schools and be declared the Victorian Champions in Language and Literature.

School librarians Dianne Paragreen and Chris Brennan, who manage the team, said it was a great team effort and the students deserve the highest praise. Along with several parents, they will accompany the students to Perth to participate in the Australasian Pacific Final on October 20.
