New term of workshops and courses at Manna Gum Community House

A NEW school term means that Manna Gum Community House has geared up to offer 10 weeks of interesting and exciting workshops and courses.

2016 is the ‘National Year of Digital Inclusion’ – which, according to www.godigi.org.au, is about affordable access to information technology and increasing digital literacy skills. Embracing this, the House is developing and expanding courses and information sessions as part of the adult education program to assist local people with technology and accessing services online.

Some new additions to the Term 4 program include:

  • A free IPad information session hosted by Broadband for Seniors which will assist absolute beginners to navigate the settings and feel confident.
  • A free myGov information session hosted by staff from the Department of Human Services. A secure myGov account lets you link a range of Australian Government services with one username and password – all in one place
  • An Intel Computers for Business course with our new tutor Louisa Vale, as part the of the Learn Local program. Louisa is a local mother of two and is very happy to have returned to Toora after years living elsewhere. Winner of the Victorian Adult Teacher award in 2006, Louisa brings her years of experience and passion to the Adult Education field and is looking forward to working in the South Gippsland area to help both learners and employers engage with pre-accredited training.

“We are thrilled to have Louisa working with us as a tutor and helping us to develop further courses for our Learn Local program here at Community House,” said Manna Gum Community House Community Development Co-ordinator, Bec Matthews.

Doris Pozzi returns to Manna Garden on October 22 for another fabulous Edible Weeds Workshop and included in the Nationally Accredited Training Courses on offer, the House is offering How to Operate a Quad Bike.

For a full listing of all the courses and workshops on offer, see the insert in this edition of The Mirror, call the House on 5682 1101, visit the website at www.mannagumcommunityhouse.org.au or email [email protected]
