Lyndall Caldwell is a local artist from Fish Creek with The Shed Studio on Old Waratah Road.
Lyndall began her career with painting classes on the Mornington Peninsula in 2005, beginning with portraits in pastel, then widening her field to include animals, still-life, landscapes and seascapes. She has now developed her realistic/impressionist style into oil paintings.
“Just losing oneself in painting is an intense and wonderful meditation and I believe this thorough immersion has helped my health. Our country’s colours are so rich and vibrant they have been a huge inspiration to me. It is intriguing to me how to portray the strength of the animals, the lightness of the birds and the vividness of flowers.
They all bring their own unique exciting and intricate challenges to create on canvas by painting.”
With no end to her talents, Lyndall has just completed portraits of a Cavalier King Charles spaniel and a stockman on his horse which were commissioned using people’s photographs… mmmm, where’s my camera?
