URGENT! Foster Swimming Pool at risk: show your support

There is a Council vote tomorrow afternoon – Wednesday April 16th at 2.00 pm on a motion that will decide whether Foster swimming pool will survive for two more years.

This morning I was advised that there is now an alternate motion by Cr Hill to reduce that to one year and that with having onerous conditions.

The Foster Pool Committee with considerable volunteer assistance prepared an excellent submission which I presented to Council last Wednesday night.

Apparently some Councillors are at this stage uncommitted while others are prepared to see the Foster pool close.

I have been advised that members of the community in the gallery may have an influence on several Councillors; as until now we have focused on formal submissions and presentations rather than banging the protest drums however the Foster community is regarded by some as having an appearance of being complacent in this matter.

If as many people as are able on Wednesday afternoon (16th) can assist in our attempts to save the Foster Pool by attending the Council vote at 2.00 pm would be helpful and greatly appreciated.

This is our last chance to demonstrate community support for the Foster Pool; please spread this about by whatever means available (Facebook; twitter, etc)

Ian Lyon
