Food & Wine

Succulent food …

Travel to Foster and and you’re in foodies’ heaven!

Whether it’s seafood, succulent beef and lamb, award winning pies and preserves, locally grown olive oil or fresh fruit and veggies you’re after, you’ll find it right here in Foster.

The fish shop in Main Street is supplied by the local fishing fleet and showcases up to 25 species of fish.  Then just down the road in Port Franklin is Wayne Cripps, who fishes by night and sells his fresh catch from the wharf by day.

And, you’re unlikely to find better beef and lamb anywhere.  The brands ‘Gippsland Natural’ and ‘Enviromeat’  are the result of an alliance of local farmers who grow and market quality red meat, using sustainable farming practices.  The meat is produced with the environment, animal welfare and quality in mind.  Gippsland Natural can be found in Foster’s Main Street at the Foster Butchery.

For top quality fresh fruit and veggies, you can’t beat Aherns Fruit Market, which is renowned throughout the industry and region as an innovative, customer focused and quality product driven business.

Proprietor, Paul Ahern, has the philosophy that unless you are giving your customers the best shopping and eating experience possible – then you are doing the business, your staff and your customers a disservice.

The Award winning business has invested in new technology, clever shop design, state-of-the-art refrigeration and the introduction of a wide, and often novel, variety of fresh fruit and vegetable produce – including health foods, organic groceries and complimentary gourmet foods.
