New website launched in Foster

‘VICTORIA’S best kept secret! www.foster.vic.au’ proclaim the bumper stickers.

And ‘Come for the beauty, stay for the lifestyle www.foster.vic.au’

Showcasing Foster as a great place to live, work and play is the new community website www.foster.vic.au built by the Foster Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the help of South Gippsland Shire Council.

At the launch of the website at Foster’s Rhythm Café on Monday evening, Linda Giddy, who is managing the project, said that the primary objective was to attract more people to the district, “which will be good for business – and the community”.

Under chamber president Karen Pulham’s leadership, the chamber commissioned local web designer Andris (Andy) Dinsbergs of Loud Mountain Web Design to design the website.

“I have tried to make it easy for even the non-computer savvy to use,” said Andy, urging people to go to the website and provide feedback to him on what they like – or dislike – about it.

With the help of the big screen at the Rhythm, Linda gave the business people and representatives of local organisations assembled at the launch an introductory tour of www.foster.vic.au. She pointed out the four-minute video which shows the attractions of the district, the community noticeboard, the list of coming events and the headings which when explored show the wealth of opportunities available to people in Foster.

“It is very affordable to feature your business on the website – and the cost is tax deductible,” said Linda, encouraging people to list their businesses or upgrade to a premium listing or a banner ad. Details of the three ways to feature a business are in a colour brochure introducing the new website. Copies of the brochure are available at most local businesses in Foster and at the visitor information centre. A special early bird discount is being offered for businesses registering before midnight this Friday.

“Please join us in this exciting venture,” urged Linda. “With your support, the foster.vic.au website will feature all businesses, associations and organisations servicing this area, to show the rich diversity our community has to offer.

“This website provides the first ever one stop shop of quality information about Foster and the Corner Inlet district for anyone who wants to know anything about this part of the world – whether they are in Timbuktu or around the corner.

“It promotes this area as a great place in which to live, work and play, and gives people access to current, reliable information, otherwise hard to find.”
