Julie’s Classic Cakes star at farmers’ market

ONE of the stars of the Prom Country Farmers’ Market, held on the third Saturday of each month in the grounds of the Foster War Memorial Arts Centre, is Julie’s Classic Cakes.

Julie Pinkerton has been baking so long it’s second nature. From Childers, Julie has been coming to the Prom Country Farmers’ Market for quite a few years.  Her stall is overflowing each month with a huge variety of baked goods, ready for you to take home and serve or give as a lovely gift.

Mostly traditional favourites, Julie’s most popular items are probably Florentines and yo-yos, and her enormous ready-to fill sponge cakes always sell out.  You can also buy a mixed pack of slices.  Julie also provides gluten-free versions of her popular biscuits.  As always, call by early to ensure you get the largest variety from which to make your selection.

There’s a farmers’ market on this Saturday, April 16, in the grounds of the FWMAC in Main Street, Foster. The market starts at 8am and runs until 12noon. Check out Julie’s Classic Cakes and all the other stalls offering the best of home-grown or homemade produce from the local area.
